O Give Thanks

O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good! Psalm 118:1

We pray this daily following our lunch as we prepare for recess in the afternoon.
It was so fun to see how our friends thought about this verse and what they thank God for.

Flat Stanley visited Granddaddy and Grandmommy's home in Pike County near Louisiana, Missouri. Louisiana is located on the banks of the Mississippi River approximately 65 miles north of Ellisville with a population of about 4500 people. The river is used for fishing, boating, hunting and barge transporting. #1

Louisiana has 24 large picture murals painted on the sides of buildings by local artists (#2-7)

 

 

It is the home of Stark Brothers Nurseries who bought the chance seedling from Mullen's Farms. Stark Brothers called it the "Golden Delicious Apple." It became one of the most popular apples we enjoy today. The Bear Barn is a famous landmark for the company. They will be celebrating their 200th anniversary next year. #8

Hi Miss winter! Flat Stanley went to Eagleville, MO. It is in the USA, about 300 miles from St. Louis. This community has 316 people living in it and they are important because they farm corn. They are interesting because we did not see a grocery store, a fast food restaurant or stop lights there.

How The Plant Changis.

Making Concrete

 

Today when we went to recess, we noticed that they were working on our sidewalks. So we took a few minutes to learn about concrete.

 

1. It will take 3 hours to dry and a day before people can walk on it.

2. They use a special tool to make lines in the concrete called a groover.

3. They have to wear special boots so it doesn't stick to their feet.

4. They use a piece wood to keep the concrete from getting in the grass. (It's called a form.)

5. They use a Bobcat to move concrete.

6. The cement truck mixes the cement.

7. They smoothed it out with a float.

8. Mr. Dubberke told us information about concrete.

 

It was pretty exciting to watch something completely different than usual. It was incredible.
